We put a mini fridge in our basement for drinks and did away with the cooler. But that wouldn't help if you were boondocking.
was seriously considering that! Do you set it outside when camping? I was wondering if it would stay cold enough in the sun.
We leave it in our basement. Our drinks have been cold no matter the temp. We could probably take it out but we would have to put it away every night since we have a lot of teenagers in the campground where our lot is located. ;)
You could put it under your 5th wheel while camping so it stays in the shade.
I don't have room in my basement, cause we have a factory TV that flips down in there and kind of ruins the concept for a fridge, but I was considering hauling one in the pickup and then setting it outside. why not!! - thanks.
My hubby would probably give up the mini fridge for a flip down TV! - Mile_HighExplorer

We have always used a 55-70 gallon color to keep drinks/water in rear bed of truck. Now that lost the bed space I am trying to figure out the best option. My FW has a hitch reciever rated for 300lbs. Have a deep sided cargo carrier. Thanks.
If it's shorter than the hitch, you haven't lost the bed space for that cooler, though you'd probably need to strap it down. I have a 110 qt cooler that I carry in the bed, sometimes; sometimes it's in the FW. When we get to our site, it sits under the awning, right next to the tires.

- jffnkrnExplorerI use a piece of plastic fence, 2 inch by 6 inch white and put it in the area in the back of the bed where you put a 2 x 6. this keeps my cooler and a case of water near the tailgate and away from the hitch. Also when no trailer, it makes a place to put things for the store so they are near the back of the truck for easy access.
- jasultExplorerright next to the generator on my custom bumper I made :B
- Mile_HighExplorerI would never give up my basement space for a cooler unless it was a last resort.
