- zackyboy3rsExplorerIt looks like I should have room inside the FW right in the middle of the floor.
- Mile_HighExplorerI went to two 64 qt and they fit just inside the tailgate. I have the Ford bed extenders I flip to the inside and they keep the coolers away from the hitch.
doesn't work on all setups, my old 5th airborne hitch would trash a cooler by the tailgate in a hurry I found out. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III

Well.......
IS it a 55-70 GALLON cooler..........OR a 55-70 QUART cooler??
BIG difference and how full.
GALLON one will add up weight quickly. - RAS43Explorer IIII keep our large cooler in the basement pass-thru compartment. It took some cleaning out but I realized I didn't need that "stuff" anyway. That way it is secure and out of the sun so it keeps ice longer. And I don't have to lift it out of the way. :E
- Dakota98ExplorerReplace the large cooler with two smaller ones & put inside the FW.
- RollandBExplorerBefore installing the Superglide I used to stick it in the bed of the TV. Now I stick it just inside the door to the 5er. Last in, first out, but our cooler isn't a huge one.
- LantleyNomadI put my big cooler just inside the front entry door and use the first in last out approach.
I am slowly coming to realize that I don't need that huge cooler every trip.
I have stated to focus on how many drinks we really need and began to reduce the amount of stuff we bring.
I carried the huge cooler more out of habit than actual need. - tegu69Explorer

I found a 270 quart (67.5 gallon) cooler that's 57" wide at bottom, 60 " wide overall that will fit in front of my hitch on my 2500HD and stay even with bed rails. Filled with ice, etc,but it would put me overweight. Going back and reading your follow up post, we are talking apples and oranges. A few other posters were thinking the same I think. A 70 quart cooler is nothing. - jalichtyExplorerI put mine in the boat that I tow behind the FW. That way I don't have to take it out of anything to put it in the boat when we go fishing. In a pinch, I could probably put it in the front storage compartment but then I'd have to find some other place to put my two Honda 2000 generators. These problems are so bad.
- tegu69ExplorerWow, that's a big cooler. I wouldn't want to move that from my doorway (if it would fit) every time I stopped. My 120 quart cooler fits in front of my hitch in the bed of my truck, but I haven't used it for camping in a long time. It will hold a lot of ice and drinks (and fish) You must have a big crowd going with you for all those drinks.
