We live in Texas, but we are about to pick up our 40ft FW in Michigan cause we can save over $10,000. 52 vs 63k. One dealer, Lakeshore RV, mentioned that they have multiple people fly in and pickup up truck and RV in one go. They help drive them to the Ford (Chevy, Dodge) dealer to get the truck and then pickup the RV. It might be worth talking to Bob.
a couple hours from Chicago, which could work as a landing destination.
Michigan sales tax is 6%, Texas is 6.25%, so not much different
Wow, that's a huge saving. I have noticed good prices & that a lot of people on this forum buy in Michigan. What happens if the street address we can use for registration & insurance etc. are in Texas? Can we get temporary plates to get back to Texas?
yes, you get a 15 day temp tag ($10 fee) to travel to Texas to do the final registration (Michigan collects 6% of the 6.25) U have to pay the remainder 0.25% when u do the final registration
we are driving up for a family thing anyhow, so a couple hundred dollars in fuel difference for near $11K difference is a duh!
(I have a 2012 Ford f350 dually TV already)
now, we are looking at Keystone trailers, Montana and Alpine (we are getting the Alpine) and we are getting a 2013 model year.
