Which 5th wheel hitch

Welp we bought a trailer. New wolfpack 325.

GVW 14K
Lenght 40'

My question now is, which 5th wheel slider hitch? I have the factory puck system in my Ram. Should I get a hitch for this trailer 16k or get a heavy gross hitch? I like the demco auto slide set up.

How are reese?
Are b&w all that and a bag of skittles?
How are demco auto slider?

I do have a husky 16k slider available to me to use to get the rv home.

  • I like my Curt hitch as it rotates instead of a two way, but as for mounting use the puck system. It is a good set up.
  • Most of the new trailers are built so that you don't need a slider hitch to pull with a short (actually now called regular) bed truck.

I the edges of the trailer are angled, you almost certainly won't need one.

If you do need one, I would also suggest an auto slide. They are more expensive, and much heavier than a standard hitch, but it is nice to not have to worry about stopping, and sliding the hitch. I went from a Reese manual slide to a Superglide when I needed a slider. And I wouldn't ever go back to a manual slide.

If you don't need a slider, I would look at a Reese Elite series. I borrowed a truck wth the B&W once, and I prefer the Reese. Smaller, lighter weight, and seemed easier to latch while still not having the risk of high hitching.

Good grief guys. Put your scales away and go back home.

I'm a Reese guy with my Ford. But I think quite a few folks here like the B&W for their Rams. It seems to be the most popular. Not sure why but I'm sure some will chime in here soon.

As for the weight, you're going to get that here. Everything from what those guys said to "you're a danger to everyone on the road!" Lots of drama queens here.

x2. OP is fine with that weight and didn't ask for opinions, so if you aren't going to respond to his question why respond at all?

I'd go B&W puck style or get a picture frame adapter and get a rail mount Andersen Ultimate. I've not used the former but lots of guys like it. The latter would involve two pieces but I really like the way it works compared to a standard fifth wheel hitch - very solid and smooth.
  • I have a Pullrite in my 3500 Mega. The Pullrite and Demco operate on the same principal. Go with an auto slider and never have to think about hitting your cab. I see a lot of dented cabs and broken back glass in my travels with the manual sliders. Guess people get lazy and say " I got this" and then "Boom"

  • Lets stay on topic. I didnt ask about weight. I asked about hitches. This trailer has a listed tongue weight of 2200lbs. No front BR slide. I know mfgs # are off. I know what the trucks rating are. I dont mind being over a few lbs on the trucks ratings.

Weight police keep your commments to yourself. We only haul 2 small kids quads and will have every day gear. Thank you.
