Well as someone who also took engineering classes and works daily with the engineering field, I would not deter anyone from using the Andersen.
OP doesn't mention how much money he wants to spend, so if budget is not a concern, then sure an Air-Ryde hitch sounds great. Middle of the road would be sub -$1000 IMO, which will get you a Pull-Rite, B & W, or Andersen.
I loved my Andersen and I love my B & W. Both are great hitches but are vastly different in terms of design and operation. The fellow I sold my old 5er to does way more towing than I did and he uses the AUH (which I inclided with the deal) and he loves it. He even uses it to pull regular short-post gooseneck trailers with too.
