Which is how B&W designed it. They'd rather sacrifice the trailer rather than both the trailer =and= the truck, where the people are. At least according to statements B&W made afterwards.

It might be true that someone at B & W stated the hitch was designed this way. I refuse to believe that the hitch truly was designed to separate in order to prevent a roll-over. To that end, I would argue that had it not separated, there's a chance that the truck weight and directional momentum "might" have kept the trailer from rolling. For B & W to state that its designed to separate in order to prevent dual rollover makes me ask the questions:
"at what point"
"at what force"
"at what weight"
Too many variables for the hitch to be absolutely designed this way.
