It's time to replace the battery in my camper. It's a 2009 Sierra by Forest River. What's the best route to go? Regular car battery, deep cycle? What size? How many amps? Or should I just put the same as what's in there now? By the way not sure what's in there. Plan on taking the battery out tomorrow.
Thanks in advance for the replies
True deep-cycle 12v batteries are pretty rare. Much, much easier to go with 2 6v golf cart batteries...IF you really need them. FWIW, if you never boondock or dry camp more than 24 hours at a time, a =good= marine 12v battery will probably do you OK, with 2x 12v even better. If you like to dry camp for 2-3 days at a time, then get 2x 6v golf cart batteries, which =are= true deep cycle. This being said, if you dry camp, and need the furnace, even a single GOOD 12v battery likely won't do well for you. Fans are real battery-killers, so more juice is necessary.
For an education on RV electrics, google "The 12v Side of Life" for some really excellent info.
