I'd sure like to know what you are smokin'! Because I'm just plain exhausted! Seems everything is a difficult learning curve on the new 5er opposed to over 30-40-50 years of bumper pull travel ex...

Not a good idea, you should be attaching to the truck it's self.
If the entire hitch comes out of the bed, I probably have bigger issues than if the trailer brakes engage.
