Why a 5th wheel over a tow trailer?
Want are the big advantages of the 5th wheel compared to a tow trailer? I would like to be able to use my bed of my truck to haul things. My brother in-law says he can back up a tow trailer much easi...

3) hard to fit a golf cart in the bed of the truck with a fifth wheel hitch in the way. So taking along a golf cart requires a toy hauler, separate trailer, or a separate trip. (Not everyone takes a golf cart with them so this may or may not be an issue)
4) variety of tow vehicle choices. Fivers limit you to a truck, a TT can be towed by a SUV and in some cases a car.
5) higher expense all over the place...more expensive truck is required...more expensive tires...more expensive hitch (not always)...more expensive damage (higher risk) when the fiver goes through the back window...generally higher initial purchase price...etc etc etc
6) Fivers can be more difficult to get level with a taller TV...once you run out of adjustment in the pin box and the fifth wheel hitch the only option to fix a nose high scenario is to modify the frame and or suspension of the trailer...at considerable expense (see # 5) ... For a TT a nose high scenario is fixed by adjusting the hitch and or buying a longer shank...no super expensive mods required.
7) TT's and fivers both stink going backwards...so I call that a wash.
8) it really comes down to personal preference and budget.

I did an axle flip on mine for a grand total of about $90 for two spring hanger kits. Took me an afternoon of wrenching down by my shop to do the work. Not a bad way to spend s Saturday afternoon. I'd hardly call it an expensive or difficult mod.
Also my rail mount Andersen weighs less than 40 lbs. works great and it's real easy to install/remove.
