Rear kitchens really appealed to us in our search for a 5th wheel 5 years ago. I thought they had lots of counter space and it seemed a safe idea to have the cook busy in the back away from the door with the grandkids running in and out.
We found a fantastic buy on a two year old Crossroads that was a rear lounge model with the kitchen in the middle. As always, I'm highly motivated by saving $$$. This was too good of a deal to miss so we bought it.
After using it 5 seasons we have come to the conclusion that a rear lounge model is actually just as good. We begin to notice that nearly all campsites we use, the best view is out the back of the camper!! Many many times we are sandwiched in between other campers so there is no view on each side. Of course this is not always true but in the places we frequent there is some nice views out of those big back windows with the two swivel rockers.
Also true and worthy of considering. I guess if you are full-timing in an RV park, this would not be as important.
