Diesel pushers are much more expensive to own vs a diesel pickup and 5th wheel.
However if you want to travel every few days a MH is more convenient in use.
Our new RAM 3500 SRW CC SB truck and Bighorn 3575el (39'4") came in just slightly over your top figure. IT handles the trailer very well and is a pleasure to use as a daily driver. With 3:42 rear gears it is a freeway cruiser, yet with the Aisin optional tranny with low first and second gears it can get the 16K trailer moving without breaking a sweat.
