Are you saying that you might cry when you find out that a 42' fifth wheel will exceed the SRW weight ratings?
Yes you might be restricted to a slightly shorter RV due to the weight limits of the SRW 3500 truck. Check the weight rating and get back to us. Things have improved a lot in the past 10 years.
Lets say that your truck can carry 3,500 pounds. Then you will be fine towing a long trailer with say a 2,800 pound pin weight 'loaded' - so empty pin weight around 2,400 pounds. 20% of a 12,000 pound fifth wheel is 2,400 pounds, and that is going to be a fairly short fifth wheel. Crying now???
Good luck finding something. I might suggest looking at the Glendale RV Titanium series of fifth wheels, that have not been made in a few years. They tend to have less than 2,200 pound hitch weight, even for the 42' long toyhauler.
