You and your wife first have to decide what your future RVing means to each of you:
1. i.e. Go to Ariz. for the winter every year for 5 months? Or possible leaving at an RV Resort year round to be used when you have time?
2. Start RVing to various parts of the country for shorter periods of time?
A 42' trailer is not my idea of an RV that I would want to tow if I were going to travel and move around to different parts for shorter periods of time. You could find that some RV parks might not have sites large enough to be able to handle a 42' trailer.
Personally I would look at 5th Wheels. The length of the 5th. wheel makes for a shorter overall trailer to tow.
