QUESTION: Would investing in an "Aero Shield Wind Deflector @ $400.00 worth the investment? Cost/benefit? Anyone have any practical experience?
(Forum search... but did not see any information on the topic.)
We have a 2014 combo: F250 Super Duty and Cougar 327RES.
Planning a cross country trip in the next 12 months.10,000+ miles.
Pre-planning includes a full 5th wheel undercarriage inspection, brakes, bearings and new tires, under belly coroplast service/inspection etc.Plus pin box and fifth wheel inspection.
TV is getting a full maintenance inspection.
Looking for some input on the merits of investing in a wind deflector.

There have been plenty of debates about these over the years and the general consensus is don't waste your money. The way a typical FW is set up, there's not any real advantage to them. Some report a small mpg increase, others report less turbulence, but the vast majority report only a PITA. They work for semis due to the fact that the trailers tend to be a =lot= closer to the rear of the cab than 99.99% of RVs, thus literally "drafting" the tractor. There's simply too much distance (research shows that > 18" space, efficiency goes down drastically) between the cab and the front of our RVs for these to really work well. That said, a FW will almost always get better mpg than a comparable TT and adding a bed cover or camper shell to your truck =can= show decent mpg improvement.
