Article in Trailer Life begs to differ with your assessment...Experts feel it very well may be worth it. My windows are dual pane Hehr windows, came dark tinted...no issues, zip, nil, nada..Cut's down on noise and even the Trailer Life article stated they DO add SOME insulation, helping heating and helping in cooling...check out the article, supports having them...Will never own an rv again unless it has dual pane windows, insulated or whatever tag you want to put on them.
Pay back on investment seems also to seem it's "worth it"...had them on an 04 Coachmen and difference in trade with them was the exact same amount they cost me....after 3 years..yeah, worth it to some of us:)
You misunderstand my point, dual pane windows may be worth the cost as an option at the time of construction. I certainly think so as they were a big factor in my decision. and cost was around $1000 on my new rig. However, to remove maybe 10 single pane windows, buy and install new dual pane windows might cost $5000, That is a much higher cost and harder to justify.
