Winter Heat

In our TH, if I am on shore power, when I turn on the heat, the A/C fan comes on. It is loud, and since we do not have a heat strip, it blows cold air. I understand the concept, but it is not comfortable at the volume level. The fan runs, even when the furnace is at rest.

I do have a small electric heater for the bedroom at night.

Options are a fan switch to slow down the A/C fan, or a cutout to disable it.

Or I find an indoor propane heater, which seems redundant.

Thoughts or suggestions welcomed.
  • You should have three settings on thermostat, "Low - High - Auto". If it is in either the Low or High setting the A/C fan will run whenever the furnace is on. In the auto setting the A/C fan will not turn on with the furnace. Hope this helps.....
  • Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear, the A/C is recirculating the interior air. The compressor is not running. Although I have available a lo fan setting, it is only available in the 'fan' setting. The main issue for us is the noise of that thing.

sounds like your thermostat is wired wrong.

Or you haven't changed the thermostat settings from AC to heat.
