I am going to winterize my 2013 Cougar 26SAB for first time and have a couple of questions you may have the answers for: 1) How do you make sure the street line from the hatch connection w/check valve to the connection to the main plumbing system gets antifreeze? I have the Polar Pack and can not see where that connection exists.2) How do you winterize the No Fuss Flush line without using air blowout?

Edited-To be clear, the method I used to winterize my 318SAB was to put the pump intake hose into a gallon of antifreeze. I would connect the outside shower hose to the Flush line and run antifreeze thru the shower and flush lines and into the black tank. Then after I had winterized the entire system I would turn off the pump and bleed off most of the pressure in the lines, but leave just a little pressure. Only when the pressure was reduced would I activate the check valve manually to force antifreeze thru that line.If you tried to activate the check valve at full pressure - first it would be hard to do, and you stand a good chance of ruining the check valve in the process.Hope that helps.

Not sure about your exact situation, but I use this antifreeze pump for both the city water connection and black tank flush.When using on the city water connection, I have the water pump turned off and a faucet open in the bathroom.

I also have the 26sab, Where is the check valve you refer to located?

I understand B4s concern with the city water line. When I checked all my lines for pink after winterizing, I caught a glimpse of clear pipe at a tee. That pipe still held fresh water and proved to be the city water hookup line.

I blow the system out with compressed air b4 I pump in the pink stuff so you can imagine my surprise at finding clear water in that line. That is why I play with the check valve as I explained previously.

Concerning the hot water tank bypass valve, it should work OK. Also remove the anode rod from the tank.

Wow just the first of August and we have discussions on winterizing. DW doesn't like the after taste of the pink stuff! So we blow the lines when we do expect a freeze.
We are lucky here in the NW and can four season camp, so i do this procedure between two to six times through the winter.

The black flusher can split and leak if the back f low valve has water in it and freezes. Guess how I know. Better to winterize it.

I've never worried about the city water line or the black tank flush line. Never had any issues. Hope I'm not missing something!!

New concern. On my 2013 26sab water heater single valve bypass what keeps water from flowing back into the tank through the hot water line when in the bypass valve is in the bypass position? Is there a check valve somewhere?

I always just installed a winterizing valve into the line before the pump, and used it to draw the antifreeze into the system. Never have had an issues with the city water line before that..... never occurred to me that it would be a problem. Maybe I just don't understand the question though.

I push the plunger on the city water connection to allow antifreeeze to backflow into the line. You have to release most of the pressure in the water system before pushing the plunger or you will probably wreck it. I do it 2 or 3 times. Turn on pump, turn off pump, open faucet to drain most pressure, push plunger--repeat.

The black tank flush line is probably self-draining and doesn't need antifreeze. Maybe just blow into it--serious.
