We just move farther south and avoid the freeze problem.
Seriously, if you use the air method, be sure and remove the filrer from the water pump and clear it of water. Put the RV antifreeze in the sink and shower drains and an inch in the toilet.
I always used the air method and never had any issues and them did not have to contend with the pink stuff in the water lines.
