The campground we like to visit is in the Talladega National Forest and the main road to the campground has been washed out. The detour is a fire road that is fairly rough and not very wide, drove it today without the fiver. Would you take your fiver down a road like this? I would think you would have to just about idle the entire way as to not beat the fiver up. I am afraid I would end up breaking something trying this. What's your thought?
I wouldn't put our trailer though that. If the road is as rough as you say it is you're just asking for all kinds of "issues" later on. To me it's not worth the risk. Find another campground until the regular road opens back up.
Last September we wanted to visit Bodie SHP in CA. A guy at a campground we were staying at near Yosemite told us about the ghost town, said we'd love it (which we did!), told us there'd be plenty of RV parking there for us. We got about 300 yards off of the pavement on Bodie Road (HWY 270) and backed back out of there. That road was unbelievably rough!! Had I taken the trailer the whole 3 miles into the ghost town I doubt we would've come out in one piece. 38 foot fifth wheels aren't designed to go "off road" IMHO.
It's your trailer, it's your money, you have to do what YOU think is best with YOUR investment.
