On the yellow/white sticker located on the driver's side door or pillar. It states the max. combined weight of occupants and cargo for your specific truck. Do you mind telling us what that is? Also what is the GRAWR that is shown on the white sticker nearby. This info should settle any misconceptions.
I'm glad to here it towed well for you.
Max combined weight sticker: 17,100
GVWR: 8200
Max payload: 2390
GAWR
Front 4050
REar 4800
CAT SCALE:
Loaded 5th, included 50 gallons of water:
CAT scale results: Steer axel 3950
Drive axel 4710
Trailer axel 7810
Gross weight 16470
That included full tank of gas, myself, my wife,
Chloe our 13 lb Westie and a stocked trailer.
WOW, what do you consider loaded?? sheets on the bed and tooth brush and tooth paste??
Specs for that trailer;
Dry Weight 9,741#
Payload Capacity 2,639#
GVWR 12,380#
Hitch Weight 1,980#
Take the Dry trailer weight - the pin weight = 7,761 so you only added 50# to the wheels?
Your max payload is 2,390 - 1,980 dry pin = 410 for DW and dog and stuff.
I also missed that the GVWR is 8,200# your "loaded" axles add to 8,660 putting you over the GVWR by 460# already. Not the weight police as I also run over my GVWR, but unlike you I do it on a Full Floating Rear axle, and have FULLY loaded about 900# to spare on the rear, and 400# on the front. You have 100# on the front, and 90# on the rear, hope you don't eat much, or need camp chairs. Have seen in an earlier post you are adding, helper springs to level, sorry if I need to do that I would be looking at a bigger TV.
Your ratings are already pushed to the limits, GVWR = 92.6% of GAWR. On my rig GVWR = 78% of GAWR.
50 gallons of water 8.34 per gallon = 417#
I think you might visit the scales after you really load that truck, and trailer, I think you are in for a surprise. Not a diesel snob, just anti large loads on semi floating axles.
Last time I towed my 12,500# GVWR 5er I had 9,200# on the trailer axles, it weighs in the neighborhood of 11,000# loaded.
How about a picture of you rig as you head out on the 1st trip with the landing gear UP.
It is a great looking 5er, I just think, along with several others that you will soon be looking for a bigger TV!
This is a picture of ours loaded for trip with 99% of groceries and always stocked for a weeks travel.
