Go with a good name ST tire, Maaxis, Sailuns or Goodyear, make sure the dot date is current on all 4 tires. Always had ST tires with no issue but I've always had Maaxis brand. You are correct that your tire height will only raise you RV 1/2 of the total tire height difference, just need to make sure your clearance on top or your tire is ok with the additional height of the new tires. In my opinion there's no such thing as over kill with the weight rating on a tire VS the weight of the RV as long as things don't get ridiculous. Using 3400lb rated tires on a 5K or 6K axle is the best safety way to go as long as your wheels are at least 6 lug and rated to handle the difference in tire pressures. Ride quality...not even an issue on an RV in my opinion and it probably will pull better too.
