? about South Dakota Mail Forwarding

We've finally pulled the plug and are putting our house up for sale..... planning on using the SD mail forwarding company, Americas Mailbox. In reading all the info online, it states "If you own outright OR have just purchased the vehicle, you must supply the original title or the original manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (keep copies for your records).

If you do NOT have the title in your possession, we must obtain the original title from your lienholder.
Fill out the required contact information for them on our vehicle checklist, and sign our Power of Attorney in front of a notary in the same way your name(s) appear on the vehicle title.".........

Now --- in my lifetime, I have NEVER known a lender to hand out the original title if you still owe on the vehicle........Would you say this is an error.......or what gives??????????? Anyone had experience with this?

We've been with Americas Mailbox for 2 years now without any problems. Why let these mailbox companies handle your vehicle registrations? You have to physically go to SD initially to obtain your Operator's License. Just handle the registration process while you are there.

Because YOU can not get the title from your financial institution but they can and then change it for you to a SD title and registration ( need a SD title to be registered). And you ask how can they do it but not me? Because they are BONDED and INSURED and you aren't.

We also use mydakotaaddress in Madison. Miss Terri is a champ to work with. We have had several titles done by sending them in and she takes it to the Court House then mails the tags to us and the county later sends the title to us.
The deal with the bank is as stated. IF you are SS age we use Humana Choice for our medicare advantage plan and with meds it is less than $50 a month each.
thanks!!!! and yes, I'll be of Medicare age next Feb. DH is on Humana already and we've been very pleased with it :) :) :) I'm getting more excited!!!!!

  • Oh, geeze!!!!!!! All this packing and cleaning has warped my brain! I read "you will have to obtain" instead of "we".....sheesh! Thanks for the info on My Dakota Address. I'll check it out.
  • No, your lender WILL send THEM the title - but not you. I use My Dakota Address (cheaper and better service, they do an internal audit on all your mail) and had to do the same thing. I owned everything but sent them the title to get SD title and registration.
