Traveled for years without a slide. All a slide out it gives you is 2 foot wider 'aisle' down the middle. The furniture you sit on or at and its space is exactly the same as one without a slide.
Bought many used ones and had no problems. Bought them right and sold them for the same price I bought them for. IMHO for me, free MH'ing. No monthly payments so 'if' something has to be repaired it doesn't break the bank having to pay payments and repair.
Unless you plan on keeping a 'new' one for many years the depreciation just pulling off the dealers lot will keep you upside down on the unit for years should you choose to sell it or don't like it. New ones are not guaranteed not to have problems. Only diff is the breakdown 'should' be under warranty or you pray it breaks during the warranty. I like the used ones, the previous owner had to deal with being on the side of the road during the shake down of a new one hoping it was covered.
