So many variables to this equation. Where you live, what your budget is, how is your credit, how handy are you, how picky are you about used stuff, what exactly you are buying and more.
For example, the used market is very good here in California with the most National Parks in the country, miles of coast line, and amazing weather year round. Everybody wants an RV here. That means paying considerably more for a used unit and having far fewer options on the market. Florida, on the other hand, has a ton of options and the prices are about 30-40% lower compared to California. So, in California, buying a new unit may not be much more than buying a used unit. I found the difference here in Cali on comparable units to be about $4000. The next time I buy an RV, I will be doing it in Florida while visiting relatives.
