If you choose to think along the lines that unbob does in his OP article, than another poor investment is a DW or a DH. Original purchase price is basically reasonable considering not a lot of cash changes hands unless of course you include a mail order bride/husband. The marriage costs, general maintenance and upkeep expense, medical, emotional involvement, entertainment, divorce costs, lawyer fees, and family stress factors are variable, expensive, and produce minimal return financially for every union.
The fact is, not everyone buys a home as a financial investment. The fact is not all DWs or DHs choose a mate for a financial investment. We own a home because we choose to. We have a DW or a DH because we choose to. Some of us even choose to purchase RVs. To each their own!;)
