If you choose to think along the lines that unbob does in his OP article, than another poor investment is a DW or a DH. Original purchase price is basically reasonable considering not a lot of cash changes hands unless of course you include a mail order bride/husband. The marriage costs, general maintenance and upkeep expense, medical, emotional involvement, entertainment, divorce costs, lawyer fees, and family stress factors are variable, expensive, and produce minimal return financially for every union.
The fact is, not everyone buys a home as a financial investment. The fact is not all DWs or DHs choose a mate for a financial investment. We own a home because we choose to. We have a DW or a DH because we choose to. Some of us even choose to purchase RVs. To each their own!;)

Agree 100%!!!
We chose to live in a home for the fact that WE would and could decide how WE were going to make it ours.........And we did.
Now we're older and have Been There Done That. We don't want the responsibilities any more, but MAY in the future. It's our choice to make and we'll pay what it takes for home ownership. We made the choice of owning a home and I made the choice to learn what it takes to do all maintenance to keep it looking its' best. Unbob chose not to learn how to do things so his home fell to dis-repair, his choice. To me, a home is not an investment but a necessity. We need to live somewhere. If that's in a house or an RV or under a bridge, it's our choice to make. I figure I'm only here for a short time and I'd like to experience as much as I can and as comfortably as I can or want too.
