Instead of doing yard-work and cleaning rain gutters, etc I chose to spend the weekend skiing, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, etc etc. Basically enjoying life instead of being a slave to my property. Dumping the house was a no-brainer for me. Just regret having not done it much sooner.
We made the choice of owning a home and I made the choice to learn what it takes to do all maintenance to keep it looking its' best. Unbob chose not to learn how to do things so his home fell to dis-repair, his choice.
So did we. And we still do. As a matter of fact, just got in from a full day of riding the Harley Road Glide Ultra. AWESOME DAY of riding. See the thing is my house and yard are setup so that it takes me about 4hrs a week to do yard work, then we've got all week and weekend to do what we want. Now don't get me wrong, it took a few years to get it the way it is and there's still some maintenance, but I have maximized the amount I'll get for the house when I sell it next year. I expect to almost get triple what we paid for it back in '87. We look forward to fulltiming....
No disrespect to you unbob, but we enjoy living in a house over an apartment, condo, or townhouse. Much more privacy. Glad you found what blows your hair back. Life's too short.
