Thanks for posting that 2Gypsies. I don't frequent the Escapees forum, although I probably should.
One thing that the writers did not address is that this "shedding" of insureds covers only private-payers. BCBS TX is still offering (for now) PPO plans for those who have employer-based insurance benefits. That seems way too targeted and exclusionary and I wonder if it's even legal.
Examples of some most likely to be impacted by the change if they are domiciled in TX are:
Full-time RVers not age-eligible for medicare (some retirees but also some young families
Self-employed RVers who do not have employer-based insurance (artists and entrepreneurs)
RVers who work as independent contractors (workampers, some gate guards, some IT workers)
I talked to a friend last night who is an artist in Austin. He will be effected by the change but has not received any notification from BCBS TX as yet. Needless to say, he was not happy about it. I'll mention those forthcoming web sites you listed, even though he's not an RVer (YET!).
