Best place to winter?

I was born and raised in Fl. I left the state when I was 22. I got tired of 80' on Christmas, the totally flat terrain and lack of seasons. The grass is always greener on the other side, right.
DW and I plan and spending next winter in our MH. We don't want to be on the move constantly. Would like input on suggested areas with my "ideal" winter climate. Less than 15 days in the 20's average daily high of 50. We don't want to freeze to death or have to deal with the 80's and high humidity. Cost to live reasonable....Is this "place" a pipe dream?

    But seriously I would lok at the Phoenix - Tucson corridor. The highs are in the 70's in the winter with very low humidity. Lows in the 40's

    While the 70's is higher than you specified the low humidity make it totally wonderful

    If you are over 55 I recommend Fiesta Grande in Casa Grande, Az. Convenient location with lots of activities


    Why the "over 55" recommendation. are they "retirement communities?

    Thanks for the input everybody......Believe me I know alot about Fl and the areas....Remember in my OP I said I am a native Floridian. Yes it's always been a very popular....let's say "the place for people from the north to spent the winter." Now it's my turn and I want new experiences.

    Is the Az. corridor over run with MH in winter?

    x2, albeit I didn't go as far as the panhandle!

    I spent the first several winters in the lower south of Florida UNTIL I discovered Northwest central Florida WHAT a difference. Nicer scenery is way nicer, the weather is great, no mosquitoes and all just a few hours Nouth of all that humid weather.

    Just look at the dept of ag planting zone map. There is a distinct line across Florida where the temperature changes. And IMHO it's dead on.


    Can you elaborate a little on this? Like the town/city or campgrounds? Not too familiar with Florida.

    rockhillmanor is correct.

    The widely accepted "frost line" is Florida Rt.60 or Interstate 4 that runs east west across the state.

    Below (South) of that it is very unusual to get frost. As a matter of fact, most all of the citrus growing has relocated over the years to south of that line.

    There is noticeable temperature and a different ecological zone by just moving 50 or 100 miles north or south.

    Florida is not all white sand and palm trees.

    x2, albeit I didn't go as far as the panhandle!

    South, TX on the coast. You won't see any 20's (maybe a day or so of high 30's). The cost of living is wonderful and that is why we are here now!
