There are quite a few places where you now have to pack it out. And I am grateful for that! Some places are because of the location - poor soil, permafrost, poor drainage; others because of high traffic. Examples: the Zion Narrows, Buckskin Gulch, Mt. Rainer, Denali, Mt. Whitney. The rangers will even hand you bags with your permit.
People scoop dog poop (I hope). They shouldn't be afraid/offended/grossed out by scooping people poop.
