Typically there's a lot more public lands for boon docking in the West than the east. Most public lands will allow it. Check out NFS (National Forest Service), BLM (Bureau Land Management), Arizona Trust lands, Some small towns, county parks offer a complimentary CG for day or two, to encourage folks to stay and spend monies in their towns.
We've read tons of blogs/websites over the years and where those individuals have commented on where they've boondocked, that's looked good to us, we've kept a note pad going on our mac, to keep adding to under states and eventually will sort down to nearest towns. It's amazing how this keeps growing and growing. Likewise we add suggested apps, websites, other tips and tricks we've picked up for so many sharing souls over the years. Idaho seems to a wonderful boon docking state for example.
Doing it this way we don't have to try and remember where did I read or see "this/that" it's already in our Useful RV Info notes that eventually we'll of course need to sort into some logical order.
