A big rig has absolutely nothing to do with needing hookups. All RVs are self-contained and don't need hookups. We certainly didn't with our 40' motorhome.
The OP is talking about Maryland. From these posts it seems that the typical national parks, forests, BLM, COE lands are not found there. That's his problem.
It's easy to find reasonable or free places to stay across the country. It seems not so in Maryland.
