Fred,
The ant comment was just to lighten up my post a little bit lol. I was actually at what was left of our place a few days ago and you are correct that the little buggera are still there!
My initial thoughts were that since the toxicity levels were 40 times the safe limit for humans that not much else would survive but apparently ants are kind of like cockroaches in that regard.
Not sure a heat pump will serve my purposes in -35-40 c weather.
I was thinking of running a diesel fired boiler/radiant system. Running my glycol lines in between the floor joists along the entire length of the trailer. In essence, in floor heating. After the glycol lines are installed, I was going to spray foam insulate the lines which would also insulate my water lines and then re fasten the uber belly floor cover. The heat would have no other option but to travel upwards, as heat normally does any ways. In addition to the diesel fired boiler, I was going to hook up an electric boiler as well this giving me a third heating source and flexibility depending on the price of electricity and diesel. As it stands, I get diesel at a reduced cost and due to governmental policies to reduce climate change, Alberta's electricity cost structure will be experiencing a substantial increase/change
This was my initial plan in detail. It would also increase my r value of the
The county actually relaxed the municipal bylaw specifically because of the devastation of this fire. In fact they have set up a temp rv park with free rent, free water free sewer until sept at which time we should be able to move to our remediated and demo'ed lot.
