To toss my 2nickels worth in,,
I have Espar heater and used maybe couple gallons of diesel a week when in Edmonton,,mind you this is in small TC with 2" rigid blue foam insulation everywhere and double pane windows..
Propane as someone mentioned would most likely be best option for yourlocation with lowest cost..
Also
If I was building new house Id definitely use something fireproof and tornado resistant such as these concrete insulated structural panels
