About 3 years ago we got hooked on the Travler Direct TV HD dish on top of our fiver. It was expensive so we really don't want to change to Dish.
I feel your pain dealing with Direct TV. We originally had them do the install at our house about 6 years ago. We used a local Direct TV contractor instead of calling the regular 800 number. What a mistake that was! We didn't realize it at the time but he gave us used equipment/receivers. We tired to upgrade and Direct TV never would. We finally figured out that if you pay the extra every month for insurance/service then they will upgrade you every 3 years or so.
During a conversation with one of their representatives last year she insisted that we had to have the maintenance man from our "housing complex" service our problem and they could not send a tech. I told her we were in a RV and she said she didn't understand the term "RV". I tried to explain it was a Recreational Vehicle, a fifth wheel, and everything else and she had no idea what I was trying to tell her. According to her computer screen our service address showed a housing complex, when actually it was a camp ground.
Finally we were able to talk to a manager/supervisor who understood and changed our account over to an "RV" type account. What a joke!
