Dishwashers

Not the humans! Worth it, or not? Does anyone have one on an L-shaped kitchen where the install would be around the corner from the sink, or is that not possible? What space did it consume? Thanks!
  • Well, I think it's worth it. We had one, a Vesta, you can purchase it from Camping World or an appliance outlet. They are designed to be an on the counter apartment dishwasher but do have the connections to install them. You can get the measurements from Camping World. The other dishwashers that are installed in rv's is a Fisher Paykel and they are pretty wide. We never installed the Vesta, just set it on top of our clothes washer, worked great, had it's own water heater.
  • I did the same thing Missourijan did except I bought a Danby unit for way under $200 at Brandsmart. It sits on my counter (lots of space in the kitchen). I use it every day I'm in the trailer.
  • Dishwashers in an RV are an excellent idea!

As others have said, Camping World is a great resource for information. They've got technical specs and installation manuals posted online that'll give you the information you need to determine if you can fit one in your rig.

Here is a link for the VESTA. But, search around for others too.
  • Thank you for starting this thread. I want one too after seeing the Fisher and Paykels installed in a 5th wheel. As long as you can spare the space I say go for it. Hubby says he doesn't care since I'm the one who usually does the "inside" work.
  • Ours came with a Fisher/Paykel drawer style standard. But since we ordered ours customized, we asked them to put in a bank of drawers instead and got a credit.

Washing dishes is not much of a chore for me and we prefer the 3 full drawers rather than a narrow one with the DW on top.

We have a Fisher/Paykel we would rather have the drawer space. Use it for storing pots and pans (an expensive storage drawer). We have no problem with doing the small amount of dishes after a meal.
  • When we bought our new rig I thought it would be a great idea but my wife said she didn't really want one.
I think I wanted it more because it helps keep countertops clear and I'm a clutter freak. But she would rather have the storage space. She still washes by hand more than she uses the dishwasher.
