We went out at 62 and started to collect SS. I know of too many people who wanted to wait until the last minute as to collect as much as possible... and didn't live to do the things they had planned for their golden years. Heart attacks, strokes, cancer took them. Or they were too sick due to chronic illness (diabetes, arthritis, heart disease) by the time they retired to do more than sit and watch TV. The few thousand less we'll each draw by going out early is no concern to us. Our freedom during these golden years is worth it. :) As we sit someday in our rockers on the porch, we'll have wonderful memories of the years with the RVs. :)
When you've looked over that precipice and come so close to not being here, it makes you realize that money can't buy everything and time is one of those things it can't buy. Never, ever will be sorry we retired early - so many great memories already and more to come. Plus our health is BETTER since we retired - less stress, more togetherness = longer life.
