Attended the Redmond, Oregon rally in 2012 where Marcus had just merged Good Sam into Camping World. One of the things he was touting was the Pilot fuel savings card which I thought was a great idea and immediately discussed with the attending Pilot officials and signed up. Have cents MORE per gallon and when pumping 60-70gallons costs a lot more money. Marcus, what has happened, one rumor was that these truck stops have added more truck contracts and can’t handle the additional RV business. I have also noticed that they are competitive in Gas price but not Diesel. Cut us in on what’s changed

Times change. It isn’t 2012...it’s almost 6 years later. Marcus runs a business. You may need a little maturing regarding economics.

I have always been able to find fuel cheaper down the road from a Pilot.

Gas buddy is your friend. Down load it and see all the gas prices in a area.Bill

usually once a month or so Publix (grocery chain in the SE) offers $50 gas cards for $40 if you buy at least $50 worth of groceries, so for every 50 bucks you spend you can get a gas card basically 20% off. I don't know of any gas offer that's going to beat that, so when offered we stock up on groceries. The 5-8 cents offered by GS is laughable, considering the affiliated gas stations like Pilot are much higher priced than others to start with. Use gas buddy, and if Publix is nearby take advantage. Kroger also has a good fuel discount program when you get groceries from there.

Yeah. To the tune of 20-25 cents a gallon. I used to use Flying J all the time, then Pilot bought them and things went into the toilet. Not only is there gas and diesel pricing WAY out of line, I find half of the station fuel desks give differing stories about if you can use your "Discount Card" at all, and others profess to knowing everything and then give give you a story that doesn't have the slightest resemblance to the truth.

Use Gas Buddy, and the the street view of Google earth and you will get the best fuel prices as well as actually see the best way in to the station you choose.

Ditto here as well. I too would always use a Flying J whenever possible. However, I too found that as soon as they merged with Pilot, they "went into the toilet" as you say, and they went quite quickly too. At one time I intentionally looked for Flying J's for fuel stops. Now, I tend to avoid them whenever possible.

Always even around home price can be significantly different. I have found I get better price than with the fuel card by driving a mile or two from the interstate. Current diesel spread 2.78 - 3.15 you won't find that at Pilot and all prices listed are under 24hrs.

I have yet to see one of those grocery store fuel discount programs that actually saves you money if you do the math and comparison shop at grocery stores who have no such program. Its real easy for them to make it up and then some by burying it in the grocery prices. There is no free lunch.

Never said there was. I would put Kroger up agents the so called discount stores for pricing when you have their card.
We shop at Kroger so we use the points. What would be stupid is not getting the Kroger card and then not using the points.

lately i have had trouble with using a credit card at the pumps at pilot to the tune that i will no longer fuel at a pilot.
