Emergency insurance coverage?

What are you using for medical evacuation type insurance? We would like something that would pay for helicopter evacuation from a remote area to a quality hospital & take care of relocating the spouse & RV. Thanks!
  • FMCA insurance has lots of gotchas
    For instance the medical evacuation this comes into play;

    Should the member, due to a medical condition, be unable to drive his/her vehicle back to his/her permanent primary residence within the United States, Mexico, or Canada, Seven Corners will arrange and pay to have a designated service return the vehicle to the member’s home, provided:

    a) The member has been transported under either the “emergency medical evacuation/repatriation” or “return of mortal remains” benefits; and
    b) no one in the member’s traveling party is capable of driving, or proficient and competent to drive, the member’s vehicle. The vehicle must be in good condition and capable of being safely driven on the highway in compliance with local laws.

    So if you have a stroke and are cared for locally but your wife cannot drive the rig home they will not help because you where not transported ........
    And if she has driven the rig then she does not qualify either

    You are only evacuated to the nearest hospital capable of treating you
    "emergency medical evacuation or repatriation (i.e., the member’s medical condition warrants immediate transportation from the medical facility where he or she is located to the nearest medical facility that is capable of furnishing the required level and type of care for the applicable illness or injury as determined by the attending physician in consultation with the Seven Corners medical director).
  • FMCA is out since we have a fiver. We do have the top tier of coach net, but I wonder if it is enough. Has anyone used it for emergency medical evacuation? It seems too inexpensive to be able to cover a 30k helo ride... Has anyone here used any of these plans for air services? Thanks!
  • Originally had coverage thru FMCA membership. When that became a cost item, had Good Sam's version. When it came time to renew roadside assistance, found that Coachnet had evac coverage with one of their plans - for less money than Good Sam, so went with that. Now FMCA has reinstated their coverage as part of membership (no add'l fee). Coachnet plan still in effect for another year or so, will re-evaluate then. Like any insurance, you never want to use it. In my case, DW is n ot able to drive, so I am sole operator, need a "Plan B" in case I get incapacitated. ST
  • If you are leaving soon be aware most have a 90 day waiting period before coverage begins. That is what stops me from buying SkyMed etc at the meetings they host.
  • FMCA provides this type of insurance as part of their membership. Take a look at their web site as it describes the coverage provided.
  • We have had MASA Medical Air Services Association for about 10 years. We have not to use it, but have met several that have and they are pleased.
