Firearms into Canada

Where do Canadians get their guns? Are handguns legal for Canadians to own?

There are restrictions on shipping guns and ammunition. Suggest understanding the restrictions.

Leave the guns in the US and have them mailed to you once you're back in the US.

Family or friends will have to do this for you. If you don't have either in the location then I would hit up one of the parcel places.

Ask them if they would hold the boxed guns and ship them to you when you have a known address. All it takes is money to find a solution. Almost all the Canadian snowbirds I know would never chance bringing a gun into Canada

Is it possible to bring any gun into Canada? YES IT IS!

What is the likelihood that you will be granted permission to bring a gun, especially a handgun, into Canada? ZERO!

The Canadian authorities see firearms as 3 categories, Allowed, Restricted, and Prohibited. Read their laws, to know which is which.

Don't ask, don't tell for the New England States?

You can have problems with the New England state long before you get to Canada. New York and New Jersey are really big problems to get any firearm through. They do not feel that they need to follow Federal law about transporting across the state. Stopping for fuel is deemed a stop and thus you need state permits.

I've hunted in Canada before and even a long gun can be a hassle. Handguns, never allowed.
