Retired yesterday and hit the road yesterday afternoon. First full day of full timing we slept in. Make a great breakfast and walked the dog. You're all right that it's a great way to live. Blood pressure down and for the first time in years we feel the world is our play ground.

Congrats, you made it!!! We are 17 days away from two years of full timing. Have been retire 11 years this past April. Two bit of advice. Take the first year and don't do anything you don't want. Use it to decompress and make the transition to you new life. Never look back. Do away with the "would have/should have" thoughts. Another thing I told DW our first year of full timing is to not go too cheap or we will end up hating it during the transition period. There is plenty of time for that later.

My DW, the last to retired, left work on June 30, 2012 and we hit the road on July 1, 2012. Thousands of miles in this first year and many more to go. Yes, we are still talking.
We have one of those clocks that shows only what day it is and yes, we have had to use it. No going back now.

Congrats and hope you love it as much as we do. The only thing I felt when we quit our stressful jobs and pulled away from our impeccably decorated sold home was RELIEF! Have not missed it or the payment one bit. We have been fulltime for 7 years, lots less $$$$ but far more happiness and FREEDOM.

Just spent 10 days in the mountains of North Carolina and am now in Kentucky in our first two weeks of 'freedom'. She said this morning, this has been a nice vacation .. wait ... this is our life now. And so it is.

Weare fulltiming now for a little over a year, and we always try and find a good church so we joke that there is only TWO days, Sunday and every other day! :)

I show dogs too. And a big part of me going full time was to be able to go to any dog show no matter where it was in the US and not have to worry about getting back on Monday to go to work. And no more hoping I did NOT go breed on Sunday for 'fear' I would not get back home on Monday to go to work!

No Work, Full Time, Yup it doesn't get any better than this.

Welcome to the great world of being UN-employable. We have been on the road about 3 years and lovin' every minute of it.
Had to teach me how to sleep in. now when we travel and cross the time zones it messes with my body clock. but what a small issue when I can take a nap if I WANT to.
