Free Camping BLM around Bend Oregon!

Hi Guys, I was amazed to learn that coming from San Diego BLM rules,
Oregon does not require any sort of permits for dry camping and the pay sites inside the Deschutes, Ochoco & Crooked River local forests were much lower rates!
At least what I was told over the phone.
Anyone from Bend or know the dry camping scene here would be appreciated. Happy trails, Morgan

  • There is a category here...Public Lands, Dry Camping and Boondocking. At the bottom of the list area. Go into it. You will get expert advice about all you ask. Sounds like you are having a blast!!

Is it true that National Parks always allow some areas of free camping and that State Parks never ever allow it?

National parks typically don't allow free camping just anywhere. Even the remote hiker/tenter's campsites have a fee. Don't try to park in their parking lots. You'll get fined.

If they do allow vehicle camping in remote areas, such as in Death Valley, it's wise to check if you need a permit or just to check in and tell them where you're planning to be. Death Valley is no place to go off by yourself without someone knowing where you are.
  • Thanks Guys, yes I'll admit I'm having a special kind of fun out here.. I love using my 2 pensions for their intended use... Having some fun, traveling, seeing American and above all else.. being retired!
For me, full timing was tough at first but after a few months I think you become empowered in a way that is tough to describe.. For sure you get to see the soft white underbelly of society and the crumbling middle class..
I have met the best people on Earth out here... Common ground is a good thing in more ways than one...
