As long as you are receiving a paycheck, you'll need to stay Michigan residents. Otherwise, you will run the risk of evading Michigan taxes which can really cost in terms of penalties and back taxes. Sell the house, retire, and make the first trip to your NEW residence and get new DL, registration, etc.
We use Texas, have been happy with them and find the Escapees to be a great mail service as well as other benefits from being members.
