I have been to SKP site and I see and went to a couple of there Co-op sites and like you mentioned they do have a waiting list for lots.. (must mean they are popular). Plus in reading other forums all you hear is good things about them and the parks.
I am just looking around at this point as we are not heading out on the road for at least 4-6 years.(more or less)
#BarbaraOK.. I did see the feedlot you are referring to and wondered the same thing.. Not only the smell, but an inhumane way to treat animals in my view. (we only buy free range, local grass fed, grass finished beef)
I appreciate all the input from you guys/gals as I/We are not on the road, staying at places like some of you are, knowing what you know. It might be different if we lived closer but for now in NC that is not a real possibly.
I have been looking at SKP, Passport America, and C2C as one way to sorta get a handle on camping cost and doing some boondocking on BLM and such lands out west as well..
again thanks for all the input it helps me more than you can know so keep the ideas coming.
happy new year to all.

I think Escapees is in a different category than those others. You might go to their website and read up on them to understand. Take a look at their Rainbow Parks and NON-PROFIT Co-op Parks and understand how it works.
I have stayed in several Escapees parks - Alabama, Arizona, and California.
Last summer I stayed in their California Co-op park near Coarsegold, that is only about 30 miles outside Yosemite Park. $21/nite for full hookups. This is the Escapees members price. I was blown away by this park. Buy-in is about $16k if you want one of the sites permanently. There is a waiting list (as do most/all of their parks). You must be 55.
My suggestion is to take a look at their co-op locations and if there is one in a location you like, then go for a short stay.
