There aren't many (if any) DVD Rental stores anymore. But there are Red Boxes everywhere.
We're at the age we don't like the Movie Theater experience anymore. So we'll watch an occasional $5.99 HD movie on DirecTV, but we have most of the movie channels, so can get more if we want. Have been spoiled with Pause to get something to drink and Rewind because we couldn't understand what the character said.
We still buy an occasional BluRay DVD's in 3D. But only if it's exceptional. Which they are getting fewer and farther between.
