FullTimers: how do you get your movies?

While we like redbox, remember to factor in fuel to drive there and back.

If you have to drive 5-10 miles to the nearest redbox and the main purpose for the trip is to pick up a movie, two round trips are probably going to burn thru a gallon or two of gas, so the $5.99 direct tv movie starts sounding pretty good.

Good luck with wi-fi. Very rare to have a connection that will be fast enough.

Cell service is fast changing but still has sever limits.

Western Digital Media player

Something like this one. Though mine has a removable hard drive, which they don't make any more. Now they come as one unit with an internal hard drive.

It just plugs into the TV with one wire. Even I can do it (and I don't even have a smart phone) It plugs into one of the spare HDMI ports on the back of the TV. Then it's run by it's remote control.

I don't know what they are doing but essentially:

Smart TV
NAS (network attached storage) or PC

Run media center, plex or twonky on NAS / PC.

TV connects via ethernet. Smart tv uses built in allshare or similar software or you can use a roku type device and connect through HDMI while it connects to ethernet..

While we travel with a disc player, we also invest heavily in hard copy books. Never had a tec problem with them and the panoramic visualization is great

It cost me about $100 but they're about $50 now. A 100 gigabyte hard drive is another $100.

Load up the DVR when Directv has free periods of premium channels.

We use Netflix via Millenicom. We adjust Netflix to low quality and watch about 3 hours per night. With the Verizon plan it is good for 20 gigs a month at $70. The Sprint plan allows more gigs, but not as reliable or fast. Ask around the rv park. You'll get a lot of answers, and meet a lot of nice people at the same time. That takes care of your internet needs as well of course. I've had most of them over the years, but this works best for us right now. Next year there may be another best way. Things change VERY fast with internet and cell phone connections.

I had Netflix and their streaming movie list is VERY limited. I would go the Redbox route. That way you only pay when you watch and they can be found everywhere
