Going Full-Time RVing Question

It's when your RV becomes your permanent home. My cousin and husband sold their stick and brick home and have been full timing for 4 years in their Allegro Bus. I recently asked if they were ready to go back to a 'stick and brick' home and the reply was no. They love living full time in their RV

Full-time RV'ing means different things to different people. Broadly, it means when you say you're going home, you mean back to your RV, wherever it happens to be parked. That could be a seasonal site where you stay for the entire winter for example, before heading to a different location for the summer season. For others, it might even be one location year round. For many full timers though, it means just what you envision, turning the key and heading in any direction that catches your eye whenever the thought strikes you. In reality these days, it may be a bit more difficult if your destination is a popular one where advance reservations are almost mandatory, but there's almost always alternatives in the general area you're interested in.

Some of us mix it up a bit more by having a base location, either owned or long term rented, where we can hang out in between "trips" at times and take care of medical and other issues with professionals we're familiar with. Even then though, we continue to live in our RV home.

Your biggest question will be, Where to go next? How long to stay here?

The largest expense is fuel.

Not a fantasy... reality! Hope you can do it. It's a fabulous lifestyle. :)

The concept of being a loose cannon at first looks appealing., in reality it wears out .
Fact is you will have to reserve ahead, good camps in desirable areas in fair weather locations are becoming fewer if you want reasonable rental rates.

I could give you a dissertation , We have earned ours.

This is where a lot of people struggle with the transition. They often come from vacation mindset where put on 3000miles in a weeks vacation. As a full timer, you don't have to do that.

A winter snowbird destination and around holidays, you need to do a little planning but nothing crazy.

Otherwise, full timers have all the advantages. They can arrive midweek when the parks aren't full and stay thru the busy weekends. They can take advantage of cheaper week long (or even month long) stays.

To the original question: Get out of your head that you have to live a certain way. If you aren't happy, change what you are doing...you can because you don't have a schedule or destination.

As mentioned above, it means whatever you want it to mean but I guess the most simple explanation would be that your one and only "home" is your RV. You may travel or you may not but if you aren't traveling why are you living in an RV?
