When we left to become full time it was a little scary. The first winter was rough as we lost 2 parents and 2 pets, and of course had to adjust to not being involved in the day to day lives of our children/grandchildren. We are at the 3 year mark now and it has gotten much easier. We have gone to our home state 2X since that first year and spent time with family and friends. Some have planned trips to meet us (ones who own rv's) and even planned family vacation to meet up with us (they stayed in a hotel). It is possible to see family and friends without staying in a house. You would make the effort, but do they feel the same? Would they make the same effort to come and see you? I do think part of your problem may be that your daughter had not left home yet. You didn't have the chance to get used to being just a couple again before starting this new venture. Some of your woe may be empty nest syndrome. You may just need to make more frequent trips home for awhile and see if you adjust. If not ???
