Like others our situation is a bit different. We full-time but we stay relatively close to one general area. I have to be back at the office two weeks out of the month so we can't get to far away just yet. What is nice about doing it this way is we've gotten used to not have the big stick home while still having access to all the places and family we've become accustom to. When we move on for a couple weeks we get to experience new places but know we will be back to the "comfortable places" soon enough and we get to choose which comfortable place we want to be next to. I believe this has made the transition easier.
As for the daughter situation, I'll tell you what may cure missing her. Have her move in for a month. We've had two of our 20 something girls come back for a month or more. In fact we have one back with us right now. We can still be here for her and help her out but it sure motivates them to get back on track real quick living in 300 SQFT. We love the girls but by gosh I sure won't miss her for a few months once she moves back on her own!
