We planned and researched for at least 10 yrs while still working and taking lots of weekend trips and vacations. Sometimes we would just get a forest service campsite for a week and commute back and forth. Took early retirement 3.5 years and sold it all 3 years ago and hit the road. Best thing we ever did! Now we workamp and volunteer our way around the country. Right now sitting in southern AZ...

I thought I was the only one, I had been lurking on various fulltimer forums, read every book on the subject and basically dreamed of the day for almost 15 years. There were children to raise, careers to focus on but in July, 2014 with all of the kids out and educated, a early retirement package that came out of the blue and a very supportive spouse, we are on the road. I will tell you that it is the best thing I ever did. As said before, not for everyone but for my wife and I it is the best way to live.

Good luck in the future and if you want it, develop a plan and make it happen.

After fulltiming for nine years with no home base, now rooted, if we ever do it again, ....no home base!!!!! Too much to worry about, for sure :)

We have been very fortunate and have loved everything about full timing. We just went over the 2 year mark after selling the stick and brick. Traveled to over half the states so far but have a bunch more to do. We spend what we want to spend and we have never saved so much. I know some claim that full timing isn't really a cheaper way to live, but we found for us that was simply not true.

As said, probably not for everyone. While most of our friends profess to being jealous, most cannot imagine not having an s&b somewhere to call "home". We love the freedom and meeting new people most every day. Each day is something different. We cannot wait to start moving again next month and heading to find new places, people and things to do.

We planned for years to go on the road. We married young, had kids young and parented for about 40 years. When the last one was settled in, we started making plans, well, I had plans. It took me 2 years to talk my husband into going full time. We sold the house and everything the kids didn't want last May and we went on the road. This is our first winter on the road chasing the sun, and we love it. I hope you get to join the group someday....keep making plans, sometimes it takes awhile to get going. :)

Depending on budget and the sort of experiences you desire there are many ways to full time.

Hope it works out so you can live your dream. We had some delays but it worked out 5 years ago so we could full time. Don't give up your dream!
